The Department of Agriculture, in partnership with Davao de Oro Provincial Government, formally launched a ₱245 million Farm-to-Market Road rehabilitation project on April 20, 2026, in Laak municipality. Governor Raul Mabanglo, DA Regional Director Macario Gonzaga, and Laak Mayor Honeyboy Libuangan led the groundbreaking ceremony for the 7.93-kilometer road and 30-meter bridge connecting Kilagding, Langtud, Concepcion, San Antonio, Bullucan, and Macopa barangays. The project, funded through the DA's Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up program, will slash transport costs by more than 50% and significantly improve market access for farmers producing coconut, copra, banana, cacao, and rubber. This infrastructure investment positions the Laak agricultural corridor as a high-potential zone for agribusiness investment and supply chain development.
Real Estate Outlook
Improved farm road infrastructure typically triggers 20-35% land value appreciation in surrounding agricultural zones within 2-3 years. Commercial agribusiness investors should monitor land availability in the six beneficiary barangays, particularly near the main road corridor. The completion of this FMR is expected to attract processing facilities, storage hubs, and export-oriented agricultural enterprises, creating development opportunities in residential and commercial sectors across the Laak region.
