The national government has approved and begun funding the ₱145.56-billion Central Mindanao High Standard Highway Construction Project covering the Cagayan de Oro–Malaybalay section, with the ED Council clearing the project in January 2026 and the Department of Budget and Management releasing the full funding commitment. The 65-kilometer, four-lane expressway will feature 47 bridges, nine of them major long-span structures, and is engineered to cut travel between Cagayan de Oro City and Malaybalay City in Bukidnon from roughly 6.5 hours to 3.5 hours. Japan's JICA signed a loan agreement in March 2026 to fund detailed design and preparatory works, with construction phased through 2034. The corridor strengthens the agro-industrial link between Northern Mindanao's premier port city and the Bukidnon highlands.
Real Estate Outlook
With Bukidnon land still averaging a fraction of coastal-city prices, the highway makes Malaybalay and roadside parcels along the Sayre corridor a compelling early-entry play. Commercial frontages already command ₱5,000–₱8,000/sqm, and accessibility gains should accelerate residential and logistics demand.
